Promotion with social media : Twitter, mastodon, and linktr.ee
Social media is a great way to promote yourself and keep in contact with your fans. You can share your thoughts, let people know when you’ll be broadcasting or posting new content, and these sites also provide you a place to link to your profile or post affiliate links.
X (formerly Twitter)
To make an account on x.com, you’ll need a username and email address. You should try to keep your username consistent across the major social media platforms you intend to use. This is part of the brand you’re creating. Mine is @(placeholder) on twitter or X.
It’s imperative that you set your avatar and write a bio. Not only does this catch people’s attention, but I’m almost certain that, and I say this about social media in general, you’re more likely to appear in searches if you set one. Not only that, people tend to think your profile is fake if it’s incomplete.
For your bio on X.com try to write something catchy that explains something about your personality along with keywords about the service you provide. You can also mention the sites where you’re active.
Linktr.ee
Linktr.ee is a great site to keep a list of all your social media, camsite profiles, and personal websites. Linktr.ee is a very simple site that allows you to simply provide a list of links.
You can simply place a link to your linktr.ee in your bio or website url profile field and people will have a list of all the places you’re active. You can make changes to your linktr.ee and these updates will be accessible everywhere your linktr.ee is posted or bookmarked.
Mastodon
Mastodon is the most popular of the federated social media sites. It functions in a very similar fashion to Twitter with one exception. The implications of this exception make it a fantastic platform for webcam models. Mastodon is a distributed social media platform meaning it is a collection of interconnected websites called homeservers.
You can choose from a variety of homeservers each with their own set of rules. Many of these homeservers allow for adult content, so you can promote yourself with teaser content without needing to worry about having your account suspended. You can find me at (placeholder)@(placeholder).
Notice my username has two parts? The second is required because Mastodon usernames take the form user@homserver.
